“Beit” Publishing House

Travel and read

Beit is an Italian publishing house opened in Trieste in 2007. The company mostly publishes monographies of national histories of European countries with a focus on the culture of Eastern and Central Europe. Some of the foreign authors published by Beit are especially worth knowing: Thomas Glavinic, Rachel Trezise, Feri Lainšček, Joachim Hösler and Erica Fischer

Beit is a project of the publishing house born out of the idea of a house being built. It is a mental space where we would like to spend time and use books as bricks and pieces of furniture: some are necessary and some are there merely for decorative purposes.

Like the Hebrew letter it was named after, Beit is an open and solid construction. It is a place where you can find and be found.
The project initiated two publishing series, one of historical and the other of narrative character.

The first series is a string of national histories of newly born countries in the Eastern Europe whose aim is to introduce the riches of young European countries.

The other is a series of contemporary narrative whose aim is to bring us all closer to the literary riches of authors not known in Italy as well as those who call for moving borders, not only in geographical sense but also in terms of different social realities and histories.
