Sustainable transportation system in Perast

The representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, the Kotor Municipality and designer company “D’ Appolonia“ held a presentation of the project “Sustainable Transportation System in Perast” on 13 January. On the occasion, tourism minister Predrag Nenezić pointed out that the project realization will provide Perast with new contemporary foundation and sophisticated techniques for environmental protection.

Ministers of culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro met in Sarajevo to sign a Letter of Intent for establishing cooperation among institutions for the presentation and preparation of a joint project of nominating the stećak (medieval tombstones) to be enlisted on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Montenegro and Croatia have applied for funds with the European Union in order to build a promenade and bicycle lane as well as a railroad that would connect the two countries. It would be 20 kilometers long on the Croatian side and seven on the Montenegrin side, and it is supposed to be built on the remains of former railroad tracks.

On the symbolic date of May 25 of the last year one of the most beautiful villages in Montenegro, Eco Village Yugoslavia, has been opened on Mt. Pivska or, to be more specific, at Crkvičko Polje. The name was chosen as a remembrance of a country that used to have enough room and security for everyone, where we all felt comfortable. We are confident that our guests will have the same feeling.

D.Perunicic – Empty homes, grass overgrown plots of land and 'for sale' sings are a part of the scenery that can usually be seen in Montenegrin villages in the last 15 years. Decades long lack of investment in agriculture and redemption of agricultural products created a common picture of life in the countryside: it is a difficult life with lots of hardship and work.

The country borders Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest, Croatia at a small coastal part, Serbia to the northeast, Kosovo to the west and Albania to the southwest. Montenegro is largely a mountainous land with a 293 kilometer coastline. Near the Albania border is the Scutari Lake, the largest Balkan lake. The climate is continental within the country and Mediterranean in the coastal region. The capital is Podgorica and Euro the currency.
